Day 4

As a teacher urgently left yesterday, I got new classes. Of course, I didn't have the books for the new class, so I had to go to school. I asked Fernando to pick me up, to give me a peace of mind (Pop was having his own classes at that time).

So, that also means that today was the first time I went on the streets. I must say it really doesn't feel different, though I was more alert.

Shops are already open, and the language institution was open too - the personnel was there, except for the students. It wasn't lively, but it was nice to see some familiar faces.

In the class, there showed up only one student. She told me that the rest of them had probably believed that it would be cancelled. Well... on Monday, we are going to have a test! So.... it's kind of a pity they weren't participating in the revision class. :-)

I'm not afraid or anything, it was nice to take a short walk in the sunshine, and it was good to chat with some colleagues, as well. But I'm stressed out. (Partly by the situation, related to that.)

I have options to choose from, decisions to make, which makes me realize how huge privilege I have. I might not have a house abroad that I own and go there or consider my options, like that, but I'm so so lucky to have a safe base I could return to if things turned awry.

Speaking of that, it's interesting to see who and which friends of mine are talking to me and in what way. Some of them are tired, some of them rather wants to hear from me, and some just live in their own safety net (bubble?). It's difficult to handle that, as well, and it's stressing me out, too. But anyway, thanks for your kind messages! :-) (Or even, sometimes, for the ignorant messages.)

On social media, there is a movement, saying, "Esto es Ecuador, tambiĆ©n" which shows the beauty of this country. Let me contribute here, with some of my pictures, from waaaaaay before.

Somewhere in the Illinizas NP, climbing the El Altar volcano. This was the toughest hike in my life. It was hard rain from this moment on, I was soaking wet, I climbed for 12 hours instead of 7 (not because I was lost - no. It was so exhausting.) But this was my biggest achievement, too. :-) I also remember that I was taking 15-minute naps around 4OOO m high.

Quilotoa volcano. My absolute favourite place in Ecuador. I had no idea I won't be able to return to hike the Quilotoa loop again with friends, this February. :(
